Tawhid Explained
The oneness of Allah: the absolute foundation of Islam.
"Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born. Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
— Quran, Surah Al-Ikhlas (112:1-4)
🌟 What is Tawhid?
Tawhid is the absolute oneness of Allah in His Lordship, His worship and His Names and Attributes. It is the message of all the prophets and the heart of Islam.
Without Tawhid, no deed is accepted. It is the key to Paradise and the foundation of our religion.
The three categories of Tawhid
Tawhid Ar-Rububiyyah
Oneness in Lordship
Recognizing that Allah is the sole Creator, Provider and Manager of all things.
Tawhid Al-Uluhiyyah
Oneness in Worship
Directing all worship exclusively to Allah: prayer, supplication, sacrifice, vow, etc.
Tawhid Al-Asma wa As-Sifat
Oneness in Names and Attributes
Affirming the Names and Attributes of Allah as He has revealed them, without distortion.
💡 Essential point
Tawhid is not limited to believing in one God. It involves directing all worship to Him, associating nothing with Him, and acknowledging His perfect Names and Attributes.
