2. Legal Framework

- The Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Quebec), as amended by Act 2021, c. 25 (commonly known as "Loi 25" or "Bill 64").
- The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), S.C. 2000, c. 5, to the extent applicable.
- Any other applicable personal information protection legislation.

- Technical data: Device type, operating system, application version, device identifier, browser type, screen resolution.
- Connection data: IP address, date and time of connection, session data.

3.3 Religious Preference Data

- Personalization: Adapt the user experience (learning progress, bookmarks, content recommendations, local prayer times).
- Communication: Respond to your inquiries, send notifications regarding your account or subscription, and, with your consent, send promotional or educational communications.
- Service improvement: Analyze Platform usage to improve our content, features, and technical performance.
- Security: Detect and prevent fraudulent activities, unauthorized subscription account sharing, and protect Platform security.
- Legal obligations: Fulfill our legal and regulatory obligations, including tax obligations related to commercial transactions.
5. Consent
We process the information needed to provide the services you request, including account management, purchases and saved learning progress, in accordance with applicable law. Reading this policy or browsing the site does not constitute consent to optional analytics or marketing.
Audience measurement and advertising cookies remain denied until you allow them in the banner. In advanced Consent Mode, Google Analytics 4 also loads without cookie permission and can send cookieless signals for aggregate estimates, as explained in section 8. Declining does not prevent registration, payments or learning. Use “Cookie settings” to accept, decline, customize or withdraw your choice.
Newsletters and promotional communications require a separate opt-in that can be withdrawn. Precise location requires your device permission. If you use the AI assistant, your submitted question is sent to an AI processing service to generate a response; avoid sharing sensitive information.
For other consent or privacy requests, contact contact@horizons-islamiques.com. Withdrawing consent to processing necessary for a requested service may affect that service.
6. Sharing of Personal Information
Horizons Islamiques inc. does not sell, rent, or commercialize your personal information.
We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- Third-party service providers: We engage trusted providers for web hosting, payment processing, transactional email delivery, statistical analysis, and product delivery. These providers only have access to information necessary to perform their services and are required to protect it in accordance with the law.
- Legal obligations: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to a court order, subpoena, or request from a competent governmental authority.
- Protection of rights: We may disclose your information to protect our rights, property, or safety, or those of our users.
7. Third-Party Services and Subcontractors
The following categories of service providers receive information needed for their role:
- Website hosting, account management and data storage: Service providers supporting the website and its backend.
- Mobile application infrastructure: Firebase (Google), used for the mobile application only. The website uses a separate infrastructure.
- Payment processing: Stripe for website payments; Apple or Google for in-app purchases where offered. Card details are processed by payment providers.
- Transactional email and newsletters: Internal tools and external delivery providers, for service messages and newsletters you have opted into.
- Audience and conversion measurement: Google Analytics 4, with cookies subject to your choice and cookieless signals in advanced Consent Mode. Google Ads may be linked to GA4 to measure campaigns. TikTok Pixel and TikTok conversions remain disabled.
- AI processing: Providers invoked through the platform integration receive the submitted question and the instructions needed to generate a response. Conversations are also stored for follow-up.
- Security and delivery: Anti-abuse providers (including Google reCAPTCHA where used) and shipping providers, limited to the information needed for their services.
These providers may process information outside Quebec or Canada. Their privacy policies and contractual obligations apply to their services. Contact us for details about the providers involved in your request.
8. Cookies and tracking technologies
You can choose separately whether to allow audience measurement and advertising cookies. No Google analytics or advertising cookies are allowed before your permission; necessary cookies remain active.
- Necessary cookies and storage: hi_consent remembers your choice, date, text version and language for six months. hi_language and theme_preference remember language and theme preferences. Base44 session information supports sign-in and security; cart and learning progress storage support requested features. These elements do not grant analytics or advertising consent.
- Google Analytics 4: measurement of visits and interactions, including the registration, lesson and purchase events already configured. With audience measurement consent, cookies such as _ga and _ga_* may pseudonymously identify a browser. These data are not presented as fully anonymous. Retention depends on the GA4 settings described in the following section.
- Google Ads: conversion measurement can assess campaign effectiveness when Google Ads is linked to GA4 or an Ads tag is configured. The “Campaign performance” choice controls ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization; the “Website statistics” choice controls analytics_storage. The website code currently uses a GA4 tag without a separate Google Ads tag. No TikTok Pixel or TikTok conversion reporting is enabled.
- Google Consent Mode v2, advanced mode: the Google tag also loads before your response or after you decline. In that case, no Google analytics or advertising cookies are allowed, but Google may receive cookieless signals to estimate aggregate statistics and conversions. These signals can include technical information such as timestamps, browser, URL or referrer; an IP address is needed for network transport. The absence of cookies alone does not guarantee anonymity. Modeled results depend on Google’s conditions and thresholds.
- Remembering choices: your explicit acceptance or refusal and selected categories are kept for six months, with the date, text version and language. When signed in, they are also recorded in your profile. Expiration or a text-version change prompts a new choice. An older choice does not authorize new purposes.
Use “Cookie settings” in the footer, on the Cookies page or in Profile → Preferences to customize or withdraw your choice at any time. Withdrawal immediately applies Google “denied” signals and removes the corresponding Google cookies accessible on this domain (_ga, _ga_*, _gcl_*). Advanced-mode cookieless signals may continue; information already received by Google is not erased by this choice. Declining does not prevent registration, payments or learning.
9. Retention of Information
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including:
- Account data: Retained as long as your account is active. Deleted within a reasonable time after account deletion.
- Transaction data: Retained for the period required by applicable tax and accounting obligations (generally six years).
- Usage and analytics data: Personal learning progress is retained for account services. In Google Analytics 4, event data is retained for 2 months and user data for 14 months, according to our property's current settings. These periods are separate from the lifetime of cookies and the consent choice stored in your browser. Aggregated statistical reports may be retained longer.
- Communications: Retained for a reasonable period for inquiry follow-up.
10. Information Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Password encryption.
- Use of the HTTPS protocol for communications between your device and our servers.
- Restriction of access to personal information to authorized personnel only.
- Regular monitoring of our systems for vulnerabilities.
Despite these measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information.
11. User Rights
In accordance with applicable legislation, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: You may request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Right of rectification: You may request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Right of deletion: You may request the deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations.
- Right to withdraw consent: You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to the consequences mentioned in section 5.
- Right to portability: You may request a copy of your personal information in a structured and commonly used format.
